The Traditional Spring Open Mile Race 2026
Race Information:
Distance is 1 mile.
Race starts at 9am on Sunday 31st May 2026.
Congregation by the American War Memorial (Click here to see location on map).
Individual Registration Fee is £10 for the race.
Prizes for the first three in each of the following categories:
Senior Men & Women – 18 to 39
Masters Men & Women – 40+
Junior Men & Women – 16 to 17
Boys & Girls – 14 to 15
Boys & Girls – 12 to 13 (minimum age 12)
Race Route: Straight dash from the north end of Queensway just past Regal House all along Queensway down into Dockyard Road finishing just before the entrance to the Europa Business Centre.
The following must be adhered to:
- Warm up to be done prior to arriving. Athletes must arrive 15 minutes prior to the race start time.
- No holding area for clothes or personal belongings will be available.
- Bibs not to be returned back once used.
- Toilet facilities may not be available on the day of the race.
Note: This is a ‘Road Race’ and as with all road races care must be taken with road traffic and pedestrians. Marshals will be placed at intervals across the route.

Race Registration:
No registration on the day. Registration is to be done prior to the event with a cut-off date of Thursday 28th May 2026. This must be done by completing the online registration form available on this page under “Race Registration”.
Bib Collection Information:
Please note that for those who already have a bib from the GIBFIBRE Road Runners League or from any of the last track meets, there is no need to collect a new bib. For those who don´t however, please contact Council Member Mr. Roy Torres (+35054029173) who will be available on the morning of the race between 8:15am and 8:45am for bib collection.
